DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY

​Using our advanced digital imaging system, we are able to immediately visualize radiographs taken of your horse. Our images are of the highest quality and with our system being mobile, we are able to radiograph your horse on the farm.

DIGITAL ULTRASOUND

​​Our high performance portable machine encompasses abdominal, musculoskeletal, vascular and reproductive applications.

ACUPUNCTURE

This is an alternative medicine therapy that has proved to be successful in pain management, lameness, poor performance , geriatric, wellness, fertility, and more. Acupuncture has been around for 3,000 years in horses and can be used independently or in conjunction with laser therapy and other pain management options. 

GASTROSCOPY

This 3.2 meter video endoscopy unit allows us to easily visualize the health of the stomach and pyloric antrum to rule out gastric ulcers or other pathologies. Additionally, our scope is used to diagnose any nasal, esophageal or pharyngeal conditions.
SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

Shockwave therapy utilizes acoustic wave energy to activate musculoskeletal cells resulting in tissue regeneration, healing, and pain reduction. Shockwave therapy has been shown to decrease rehabilitation time, promote healthy tissue remodeling, and increase blood flow. It is especially useful in the rehabilitation of soft tissue injuries by promoting appropriate collagen fiber alignment, discouraging scar tissue/fibrosis, and ultimately reducing risk of reinjury. Shockwave therapy can be used in soft tissue (tendon and ligament) rehabilitation, kissing spine, wound management, navicular syndrome, neck/back/SI pain, musculoskeletal discomfort, and more. Additionally, shockwave treatment is drug free and provides rapid onset of pain relief. Napa Valley Equine is excited to offer this modality for haul-in appointments or farm calls! CLASS IV LASER THERAPY

This is a quick, non-invasive alternative approach to reducing pain and inflammation in your horse. Laser therapy is a therapeutic modality commonly used for soft tissue injuries, muscle pain, laminitis and enhanced wound healing.

Pro-stride therapy
Pro-Stide involves collecting and processing a blood sample from your horse to concentrate and amplify their natural anti-inflammatory cells. The processed sample is then reinjected intralesionally or intraarticularly  to directly target areas of imflammation and tissue damage. Pro-Stride has been shown to reduce clinical signs of lameness, promote healing and slow the progression of arthritis. Since Pro-Stride is steroid free it is a safer option for metabolic horses, serial treatments, soft tissue lesions, and competition horses (drug withdrawal) . Pro-Stride is available for farm calls or haul-in clinic appointments. 

INTRA-ARTICULAR INJECTIONS

Many horses have degeneration within their joints causing stiffness and reduced performance. We provide intra-articular injections using a combination of hyaluronic acid, steroid and antibiotics as well as regenerative medicine therapies such as IRAP.

​A brief lameness examination is performed prior to any injection, to exclude any other possibility of unsoundness as well as to monitor response to therapy.

REPRODUCTIVE SERVICES

Breeding your mare, delivery of your foal, and basic newborn care can not only be very exciting but also overwhelming at times. Our reproductive services include getting your mare ready for breeding by checking her overall uterine health and stage of her cycle. We offer fresh semen artificial insemination and will provide you with information for post breeding nutrition and overall care for your mare. We offer new foal exams and will help guide you in the right direction to raise a happy healthy foal. ​

​MICROCHIPPING

Using a 15 digit, ISO compliant microchip, this simple procedure allows your horse to be identified and connected back you should your horse get lost or stolen. As of 2019, all hunters, jumpers and equitation horses must be microchipped to compete in any USEF sanctioned shows.

LABORATORY sERVICES

Most of our lab samples are sent off to various laboratories but we do offer some in hospital analyses. We work with multiple companies as well as university labs to ensure that we have the most accurate results.

HOSPITALIZATION (LIMITED)

Basic hospitalization care is available for non-intensive cases such as bandage changes and wound care. We are not equipped with overnight staffing, but will assist the transfer of care to the referral hospital.

MINOR SURGICAL PROCEDURES

​Minor surgical procedures include laceration repairs, some dental extractions, and castrations.
